Warner Bros announces Funko Pops, Batman Beyond and DC Super Pets movie

Warner Animation Group is lining up another toy-based project, developing an animated Batman Beyond movie based on the animated series of the same name and an animated Super Pets movie with writer Jared Stern penning the script

According to SuperBroMovies writer Daniel Richtman, WAG is deep in development on a live action/animated hybrid based on the popular toy and action figure line Funko!
The movie will feature characters such as Wonder Woman, the Care Bears, Hellboy, Deadpool, Hello Kitty, Harley Quinn, Darth Vader, and My Little Pony

Batman Beyond was a follow-up to the immensely popular Batman: The Animated Series. The show takes place in a future Gotham with an aging Bruce Wayne finally choosing to abandon the mantle of Batman. After many years without the Dark Knight protecting Gotham, Terry McGinnis stumbles upon the secret of Bruce’s former life. Bruce is reluctant to allow his alter ego to return in any form, but after Terry’s father is murdered, he convinces Bruce that it’s time for someone else to don the Batsuit. The beloved series ran for three seasons and was well received by both fans and critics

After concept art for an unknown animated Batman film leaked online, Geeks WorldWide discovered that there is currently an animated Batman Beyond movie in the works through Warner Animation Group. Though few details have been released, there is a possibility that the film will begin production in 2020 with a theatrical release possibly in 2022. The announcement of the film is evidently DC's response to the recent acclaim drawn by Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse. Screen Rant reached out to Warner Bros. for comment. Check out some of the concept art below:

Throughout its history, DC Comics has given their various heroes animal counterparts that have often been accomplices on various adventures with the non-animal do-gooders. However, there were times when the pets united to form a group known as the Super Pets and Warner Bros. is hoping to spin that idea into some gold with a new animated feature. Amongst all of the news on Wednesday night of Ben Affleck retiring as Batman, and The Suicide Squad on its way, a new animated film got lost in the shuffle. DC Super Pets will be hitting screens on May 21, 2021

DC Super Pets will be headed up by directors Jared Stern and Sam Levine, with Patty Hicks serving as producer. The story will use the series of children’s books from Capstone Publishers as the source material. The books also inspired a series of shorts on Cartoon Network.
The lineup of super pets is set to include Batman’s dog, Ace the Bat-Hound; Superman’s dog, Krypto; and Supergirl’s car, Streaky
