In the ancient South Pacific world of Oceania, Moana, a born navigator, sets sail in search of a fabled island. During her incredible journey, she teams up with her hero, the legendary demi-god Maui, to traverse the open ocean on an action-packed voyage, encountering enormous sea creatures, breathtaking underworlds and ancient folklore.

This year’s hit The LEGO Movie was filled with a lot of breakout characters, but no doubt one of the best was Will Arnett’s Batman. We know that Warner Bros. has already greenlit a few LEGO Movie sequels, but now it looks like those are being pushed back so that we can get spinoff film featuring the Dark Knight himself.
Yep, you heard right. Warner Bros. is pushing back The LEGO Movie sequel and fast tracking The LEGO Batman movie. The LEGO Batman film is predicated to take The Lego Movie 2‘s May 26, 2017 spot, while the sequel will be released sometime after that. The LEGO Ninjago film is still on track to be released September 23, 2016.
If I didn’t know any better, it sounds like Warner Bros. is trying to create their own LEGO cinematic universe. It would make sense, based on the huge success of Marvel’s cinematic universe and the plethora of unique characters in the original LEGO film. Putting a standalone Batman film between the original and sequel’s release will not only build up the character’s popularity, but make audiences even more excited to catch the sequel in theatres.
Will Arnett’s Batman took Christian Bale’s iconic gravely voice to the next level. The character was serious, funny, dark, sarcastic and even had a decent set of pipe in his debut single “Darkness! No Parents!” Outside of The LEGO Movie, the LEGO Batman franchise is already tremendously successful with three video games and a direct-to-DVD film.
The film will be directed by The LEGO Movie’s animation supervisor Chris McKay and the script will be penned by Seth Grahame-Smith. The original film’s directors Phil Lord and Chirs Miller will produce along with Roy Lee and Dan Lin.
The LEGO Batman movie is expected to be released May 26, 2017.

Sony Reveals First Look, All-Star Cast for ‘Angry Birds’

Collider reported that Rovio had revealed the voice cast of the movie adaptation of their popular game Angry Birds by way of having asked their fans to sling one billion birds in the game in order to unlock the info (a brilliant marketing move on their part).
As a result, we learned that the main cast will consist of Jason SudeikisJosh Gad, Danny McBride, Bill Hader, Maya Rudolph, and Peter Dinklage.
Sudeikis will play Red (the red bird), a bird with anger issues, Gad will play Chuck (the yellow bird), McBride will play Bomb (the black bird), described as volatile, and Hader plays an unnamed character who’s “joined the pork side.” Rounding out the main cast is Matilda (played by Maya Rudolph) and the legendary Mighty Eagle (played by Peter Dinklage).
In addition, they are joined by an extensive supporting cast consisting of up-and-coming comedic talents:Keegan-Michael KeyKate McKinnonTony HaleIke BarinholtzHannibal BuressCristela AlonzoJillian BellDanielle BrooksRomeo Santos and YouTube superstars Smosh.
Producer John Cohen had some pretty nice things to say about this impressive cast: “I’m extremely proud of this cast. Not only do we have Jason, Josh, Danny, Bill, Maya, and Peter bringing these characters to life, but they’re surrounded by an all-star ensemble of emerging comedic talent – these are some of the funniest people out there today, and we’re thrilled to have them all on board.”
Dwight Caines, Theatrical Marketing President for Sony Pictures, had this to say about Rovio’s unique approach to the film’s marketing: “With two and a half billion gamers around the world, Angry Birds is one of those brands that can drive massive fan engagement. That’s why we wanted to bring this unlock to the fans first. Our filmmakers are cooking up a hilarious movie, and we know these fans can’t wait to see how they’re going to bring the Angry Birds’ story to life on the big screen of movie theaters.”

‘Underdogs’ Unveils English-Language

The last time we heard of the Argentinean animated film Metegol, it was being picked up by The Weinstein Company for an English-language release, now titled UnderdogsNow we bring new developments on the film, including the official cast and a new release date.
According to Collider, the English-language voice cast will consist of Ariana Grande, Nicholas Hoult, Matthew Morrison, Katie Holmes, John Leguizamo, Eugenio Derbez, Taran Killam, Bobby Moynihan, and Chazz Palminteri.
Morrison will voice Jake, a talented foosball player who has eyes for Laura, who’s voiced by Grande. Hoult will voice the film’s main villain Ace, a local bully turned star soccer player who comes home to level the town and turn it into a sports stadium.
Surprisingly, the cast isn’t as star studded as you might expect. Glee fans may recognize Morrison, while Hoult has been gaining star power thanks to his role in the recent X-Men films, and then of course there’s Ariana Grande. But overall its not as heavy on the star power (make of that what you will).
Deadline has also reported that the film has nabbed a new release date. Originally set for January 15 after having been moved from its original August 27 release date, the date has now shifted once again andUnderdogs is now officially set to open on April 10, 2015, where the film will compete with Fox’s The Longest Ride and Paramount’s The Moon and the Sun. The film’s original January time slot will now be filled in by the Live-Action/CG adaptation of Paddington, shifted from its original Christmas 2014 release window.
While no official reason were given for Underdog‘s release shift, Deadline did state that the film is currently undergoing script changes in order to accommodate the voice cast. It’s also possible that because of these changes, said voice cast may have yet to start recording.
With a budget of only $21 million, it’s actually the most expensive Argentinian/Latin-American animated film ever produced (keep in mind that they don’t quite have the high-end resources that the US has). Reviews for the film have so far been mixed across the board; however, it did win the Grand Prize Award for a feature film at the New York International Children’s Film Festival, so its success in stateside theaters will definitely depend on the strength of the English-language script.
Here s the official synopsis for Underdogs:
From Academy Award® winning director Juan Campanella comes UNDERDOGS, an animated comedy with a little bit of magic and a whole lot of heart. Jake is a shy, but talented, foosball player. His passion for the game is rivaled only by his love for free-spirited Laura. With her encouragement, he beats the town bully, Ace, in a foosball game. But everything changes when Ace becomes the world’s best soccer player and returns years later to turn their village into a new sports stadium. He starts to destroy everything and kidnaps Laura in the process. Just when it looks like all hope is lost, the toy figures from Jake’s foosball table come to life! He and the players embark on a wild adventure to save Laura and reclaim their village. With the help of his team, his town, and a little bit of magic, Jake will try to save the day.
