But it’s shortly afterwards that the trailer takes an intriguing turn when it shows us the very first meeting between Po and Li Shan (his dad). What takes place is a back-and-forth between the two characters that is unexpectedly earnest (with an undercurrent of humor as well). We’re also given an interesting insight into the character of Po’s dad and how he is different (and not-so-different) from his son. It’s a distinct character moment that separates this trailer from the more action-packed Chinese teaser.
It doesn’t show us much, but it does do exactly what a teaser is supposed to do. Also, Bryan Cranston’s voice work is impeccable.
