First ‘The Secret Life Of Pets’ Teaser Trailer Debuts Online

Ever wondered what your pets do when you’re not home? Well, this new teaser trailer for Illumination Entertainments The Secret Life of Pets explains it all.

Next month, Illumination Entertainment will release its fourth fully computer-animated animated featureMinions in theaters, so it seems to be an obvious choice to release a teaser trailer for the studio’s following animated feature in front of that. The studio decided to release the teaser a few weeks early online and you can check it out yourself below.

This teaser is just what any teaser trailer should be. It doesn’t spoil anything about the film’s plot, but simply introduces us to the film’s concept: What do our pets do when we’re not home? The teaser consists of a few short clips of different pets, that will be central characters in the movie, and shows what they all do when their owners leave the house. The teaser also gave a first glimpse at some of the film’s main characters including Max (C.K Louis), Chloe (Lake Bell) and Gidget (Jenny Slate).

For one bustling Manhattan apartment building, the real day starts after the folks on two legs leave for work and school. That’s when the pets of every stripe, fur and feather begin their own nine-to-five routine: hanging out with each other, trading humiliating stories about their owners, or auditioning adorable looks to get better snacks.

The building’s top dog, Max (Louis C.K.), a quick-witted terrier rescue who’s convinced he sits at the center of his owner’s universe, finds his pampered life rocked when she brings home Duke (Stonestreet), a sloppy, massive mess of a mongrel with zero interpersonal skills. When this reluctant canine duo finds themselves out on the mean streets of New York, they have to set aside their differences and unite against a fluffy-yet-cunning bunny named Snowball (Hart), who’s building an army of ex-pets abandoned by their owners and out to turn the tables on humanity… all before dinnertime.

The Secret Life of Pets hits theaters on July 8, 2016.
